Transmission Shift Cable & Gear Selector Cable & Accelerator Cable
Transmission Control Cable
The shift selector cable puts the transmission into the proper gear, which is indicated by the shift selector that it has been moved by the driver. Automatic transmission vehicles normally have one cable that runs from the transmission to the shifter assembly, while manual transmission vehicles have two.
Gear Shift Selector Cable
Gearshift cables transmit forces from the gear shift lever to the transmission. As soon as a gear is selected or changed by the driver, the gearshift cable transmits this mechanical impulse to the transmission. Tensile forces of up to 7 kilo Newton are transmitted over distances of sometimes up to more than 4 metres.
Accelerator Cable
Accelerator (throttle) cables – allows the driver to regulate the amount of power he produces when he depresses the accelerator pedal. In a carburated engine, the accelerator cable opens a valve in the carburetor when the accelerator pedal is depressed.
